Sharing Your Location With Your Business

What happens when your business asks to see your location in the Work Planner app, when it's shared, how to tell it's on, and how to stop.

Work Planner Team20 October 2026

If your business has turned on location sharing, the Work Planner app asks whether you'll share where you are while you work. It's your choice, and you can change your mind at any time.

Being Asked

  • When: The first time you open your worksheets in the app after your business turns it on.
  • Share my location: Your phone then asks for permission to use your location while you use the app. Allow it for sharing to work.
  • Don't share: Nothing is shared, and you aren't asked again unless your business turns sharing off and on again.
  • Close it: You'll be asked next time instead.

When Your Location Is Shared

  • While the app is open: Only from the Work Planner app for iPhone and Android, never a web browser, and never when the app is closed or your phone is locked.
  • While you're working: On days you have work, around your business's working hours, until your last job of the day is marked. Never on a day you're off.
  • At each job: When you mark a job done or missed, the app sends where you are then.
  • Who sees it: The owner, admins, and anyone whose role allows it, on their Team › Today map, with the route you've taken today.

Knowing It's On

While your location is being shared, a location symbol shows at the top of the app. Tap it to see which business you're sharing with and when your location was last sent, to stop sharing, or to open your location settings. If your phone has blocked Work Planner from your location, it says so there, with how to allow it again.

Stopping

Tap Stop sharing at the top of the app, or turn it off for that business under Location sharing on your Profile page, in the app or a browser. Stopping deletes the locations your business has kept for you.

How Long It's Kept

Your locations are deleted after 7 days, straight away when you stop sharing or leave the business, and when the business turns sharing off.

Older iPhone Apps

On iPhone, location sharing needs version 2.1 of the Work Planner app or later. If yours is older, the app says so: update it from the App Store.
