Owed to You Card

What the Owed to You card shows, why it matches Who owes you, and why it behaves differently from the date-based Dashboard money cards.

Work Planner Team12 April 2026

The Owed to You card shows what your customers owe on their jobs right now, across the businesses you've picked. It's the same total as Accounts > Who owes you and Accounts > Home give for the same business, so the three always agree. It's a balance check rather than a period report.

What It Counts

  • Every debt: Every job with money owing on it, including the jobs of customers who have left and jobs that have stopped. It's all still owed until it's paid or written off.
  • Jobs in debt: The line under the title, such as 12 jobs in debt, counts the same jobs.
  • Credit: A customer who has paid ahead on one job still shows what they owe on another. The credit isn't taken off, as on Who owes you.
  • Business-sensitive: Change the business with the button under the Dashboard title and the figure changes with it.
  • Not date-based: It's what is owed now, so changing the Dashboard date range doesn't change it.

Until October 2026 the card left out customers who had left and jobs that had stopped, as the Debts list does unless you ask for them, so it can read higher than it used to.

Under the figure, Open Who owes you opens Who Owes You: everyone who owes you, one row per customer with the oldest debt first, where you can take payments, send reminders and write debts off. The link only shows if your role can see debts.

How to Use It

  • Chasing priority: A rising figure is a quick sign that some customers need chasing.
  • Size, not detail: The card tells you how much you're owed, not who owes it or how long it has waited. Who owes you has both.
  • Debts list: The Debts list, which Who owes you has replaced in the Accounts menu, leaves out customers who have left unless you ask for them, so its total can be lower than this card's.
  • Who Owes You: Where Open Who owes you takes you, with everyone who owes you.
  • Debts List: The same debts, one job at a time.
  • Accounts Home: Shows the same total beside your income and the things to do in your accounts.
  • Pending Payments Card: Payments still going through, which may soon bring this figure down.
  • Business and Date Filtering: Useful because business selection changes this total even though the period does not.
