Money Received by Payment Method Widget
How the Money Received by Payment Method chart works, including Direct Debit, the Not recorded slice, and what the tooltip figures mean.
Money Received by Payment Method is the pie chart of how your customers paid. It splits the payments that came in during the Dashboard's date range by payment method, so you can see not just how much money came in, but how customers are paying it.
What the Chart Represents
- Completed payments: Every completed payment dated in the range, grouped by its payment method. Payments still going through join the chart once they complete.
- Direct Debit: Payments collected through GoCardless have their own slice, Direct Debit (GoCardless).
- Not recorded: Payments saved without a payment method share a Not recorded slice, so every payment has a place and the slices add up to everything that came in.
- Tooltip: Hover over a slice to see how many payments it holds, the amount Received that way, and its share of the total.
- Refunds: Not taken off here, so after a refund the slices can add up to a little more than the Money Received Card.
- VAT: For a VAT-registered business the amounts are before VAT.
- Several businesses: A payment method with the same name in each business shows as one slice.
Where the Link Goes
Under the chart, Open the payments opens the Transactions List showing the payments for the same dates, each with its payment method. The link only shows if your role can see payments.
How to Read It
- Large slice: Usually means that payment method is a major route for money coming in.
- High count, smaller amount: That can show a payment method that is common for smaller payments.
- Large Not recorded slice: Payments are being saved without a method. Choosing one when you record a payment keeps this chart useful.
- Date-sensitive: The Dashboard range can change the picture a lot, especially where customers use different methods seasonally or for different job types.
