Financial Overview Widget
How the Dashboard Financial Overview chart sets the work done, money received, expenses, tips and missed visits side by side across the selected period.
Financial Overview is the Dashboard chart that puts the main money figures on one timeline: the work done, money received (less refunds), expenses, tips and missed visits, for each day or month of the date range. It is useful when one headline number is not enough and you want to see how the pieces move alongside each other.
What the Series Mean
- Work done: What you charged for completed jobs and other charges, as on the Work Done Card.
- Money received: Completed payments, less the refunds you gave, as on the Money Received Card.
- Expenses: Completed expenses in the period.
- Tips: The tips you were given, shown as their own series.
- Missed: What jobs marked as missed in the period would have charged. Shown alongside the other series so you can see at a glance whether missed work is shaping the total picture.
- VAT: For a VAT-registered business every series is before VAT.
Grouping Rules
- Up to two months: The chart groups the figures day by day.
- Longer ranges: Once the range is longer than two months, Work Planner switches to monthly grouping to keep the chart readable.
- All Time: This also becomes a monthly view.
Where the Link Goes
Under the chart, Open Profit and loss opens the Profit and Loss Report for the same dates, which sets your income, expenses and profit out line by line and month by month. The link only shows if your role can see reports.
How to Use It
- Find the cause of a headline number: If Net Cash Flow or Work Done feels surprising, this chart often shows why.
- Compare money streams: It is especially helpful when expenses or refunds are changing the shape of the period.
